A pre-therapy appointment aims to give you the chance to discuss what you would like to get from counselling and psychotherapy and to decide if this service is the right fit for you. It is important for you to choose a counsellor or psychotherapist that you feel comfortable working with. The appointment will last for up to 1 hour and costs £30. I will ask you some questions and usually take notes.
Once you have completed your initial consultation appointment, and you are sure you feel comfortable with me, I usually offer weekly therapy sessions that are 50 minutes long. These cost £40 each and generally take place on the same day, at the same time each week. If you need a more flexible approach due to other commitments, I can often accomodate this. We will agree the length of time you want to attend, which may be short-term, between 3 - 24 sessions, or for a longer time-period, depending on how you want to proceed.
My work with you is supervised to make sure that I work within the ethical boundaries required by the BACP. This means that I will need to discuss your case with my supervisor, who will make sure that I am providing a safe, supportive, effective counselling service to you.
I offer a confidential service, but there are limits to confidentiality that you need to know about before you undertake therapy. This includes the fact that I have to discuss my work with my supervisor, that I have a duty to keep you, and others, safe and that I have to work within the boundaries of the law. We will need to discuss this in more depth at the beginning of our work together.
My privacy notice sets out how I manage and safeguard your data. Please read this carefully.
